  • DBS checked

    All our staff and volunteers are DBS checked. This means everyone is checked to make sure they don’t have any criminal convictions.

  • Fantastic volunteers

    Our experienced volunteers are compassionate and understanding. They’re very patient and happy to walk as fast or slow as you need.

  • Trained volunteers

    Our minibus drivers complete a MiDAS driving course and our Passenger Assistants (PAs) complete a course - all accredited by the Community Transport Association.

  • We know what we're doing!

    We’ve been operating for over 20 years. In 2018 we were awarded the Queens Award in recognition of our outstanding community work and innovative ways of financing the support we provide.

  • Safe vehicles

    All minibuses in our fleet receive regular safety checks from an independent garage (which are in addition to the standard MOT). They’re also fitted with extra grab rails and required safety precautions.

  • Accessible for all

    All our minibuses have extra grab rails fitted, steps for the sliding side door and a lift at the back. We can take passengers that use a wheelchair or other mobility aids such as walkers.

Who can join?

You don’t need to be a minimum age to become a member. If you have a disability, you’re terminally ill, struggle with your mobility - we can help.

How to join

It costs just £10 each year to join/renew your membership (that’s 82p per month)! This money helps to cover the cost of sending you our monthly newsletter. Our newsletter contains information about our next shopping trips, leisure trips, clubs and groups as well as information that may be of help to you. Once you’ve joined you’ll have access to all of our services - click here for more information.

It’s easy to join, simply download and print a Membership Form by clicking here, then return your completed form to us at the address below - you can push it through our letter box or pop it in the post. Make sure you include your £10 cash or a cheque made payable to The Friendly Transport Service. As soon as you have returned your form, you can book onto our trips and you’ll receive our next newsletter.

If you don’t have access to a printer, please call us on 01952 881145 between 9am and 1pm, Monday to Friday. We’ll send you a form in the post.
