Impact of community transport

Community Transport (CT) is an essential community service, filling a gap where few other options are available, especially for older people or those with reduced mobility, living in rural areas.

There are many associated benefits including social inclusion, access to healthcare services, reduced isolation and significant healthcare savings.

“CT Services generate benefits worth £5.29 for every £1 spent on delivering them, (as defined by the UK Department for Transport in their WebTAG transport appraisal guidance).”

  • The Shropshire Community Transport Consortium commissioned expert consultant Paul Beecham Associates (BPA) to produce an updated report of our collective impact.

Here’s an executive summary of the report. The key findings are also illustrated in the image to the right.

  • An report focused solely on the benefits generated by The Friendly Bus was published and shared at the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
