We have many volunteering roles available - we’re sure to have one to suit you!
-
Minibus driver
Safely drive our members during trips to nearby shops, local swimming pool, open air markets or our Social Trips. A passenger assistant is also usually on board to support you and members.
MiDAS training is provided.
-
Passenger assistant
Support your driver and members. Help members to safely board and get off the minibus and secure walking aids. Support members during the trips for example helping with their shopping.
Passenger Assitance training is provided.
-
Community car driver
If you feel more comfortable driving your own car - this role may be more suited to you! We prioritise journeys for medical appointments due to demand.
Volunteers’ expenses are reimbursed.
-
Light gardening
Sometimes our members struggle with their mobility making gardening tasks tricky. Often they just need a little extra help to mow their lawn, dig a bed over and de-weed or plant some bulbs. Our surroundings are so important to our mental health.
-
Befriender
Members can easily go all week without speaking to someone. Could you call a matched member once a week for a chat and to check in on them? Maybe a face-to-face befriender and meet up for a coffee or go for a walk together to help build up their confidence and mobility?
-
Prescription & Shopping collections
Particularly if members are unwell or have poor mobility, they may need some extra help collecting their medication or shopping from local high street shops.
Volunteer expenses are reimbursed.
-
Library book collections
There’s nothing better than a good novel to transport you to another world! Some of our members love to read but are unable to carry their books. They place their requests with the library who then contact us to arrange collection and delivery to our member. Volunteer expenses re-reimbursed.
-
Fundraise for us!
Do you like a challenge? Whether you have previous experience and skills or not - we need enthusiastic people to help support us at events or organise fundraising activities.
-
Good Neighbour
We offer light bulb and smoke detector battery changes to help keep our members safe in their homes. We also offer cleaning their internal windows to help them enjoy their surroundings.
Support from our office staff.
Training as needed (depending on the role).
Regular appraisals.
Expenses reimbursed regularly.
DBS check and certificate - funded by us.
Shadowing opportunity if relevant to your role, until you feel confident on your own.
We understand everyone has a busy life - you can tell us what kind of role(s) you’re interested in and when you’re available. Don’t worry if something changes or “crops up” - we understand that life changes! Simply let us know and we’ll update your availability.
